Earlier this week I attended this event at the Menzies Hotel in Sydney. In the coming days I’m going to have writeups on the Pinot and Heathcote Shiraz masterclasses and some (very) brief notes and ratings for the numerous wines tried.
Some themes that I saw emerging at the show were the use of both Screwcaps on the vast majority of whites, as well as some sightings of a composite cork that is known as “Diam” and is said to remove 100% of detectable levels of TCA.
Last year, the “in thing” was Shiraz-Viognier blends, whereas this year saw Pinot Grigio/Gris as the big mover.
Some other people that have posted impressions of the event are Murray and Gemma at Winetastic, Dave at Vinosense and Hugo at The Oz Wine Show is posting a series of interviews taken at the show over the next few days.
